I saw this error when using the old version of nw.js that Purr Data
downloads -- the `nw` binary links against the obsolete GConf2 library
that was part of GNOME 2.

You could try installing the `libgconf2-4` package -- it's still in
the ubuntu repositories
(https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libgconf-2-4)

Alternately, I have had some success running Purr Data using nw.js
0.42.3, which doesn't require GConf2. Versions beyond 0.42.3 don't
work -- see https://git.purrdata.net/jwilkes/purr-data/issues/572
