Ok, I see. So effectively it does break vanilla compatibility, and
very noticeably. Then we can't make that the default behavior IMHO,
and I wouldn't want to have that lumped together with -legacy either.
I think we really need a dedicated option for it in the GUI prefs
which should be disabled by default, and a dire warning that the
option breaks vanilla compatibility.
