Ok, I see it. The problem happens when a [vu] is in a GOP patch-- 

I can trigger it when the [vu] is outside the bounds of the 

GOP rect. In that case Pd still sends graphics updates even 

though nothing is drawn there.

In Pd the update is just ignored in tcl/tk, but in Purr Data it 

was causing an error. It'd probably be best to just suppress 

sending these updates altogether, but for now I just ignore the 

update in the GUI.
