Thanks, Sam. Since I've already got the image installed with LXD I'll
see if it can carry me home without any fussing with x11 settings. If
not, I'll have a look at Toolbox.

I'm not a huge fan of Canonical or Snap, but I am currently using a
new XPS 13 with Ubuntu on it. This is literally the only laptop I've
ever used where Gnu/Linux "just works." As in: I put my finger on the
touchpad and instantly knew that Dell a) has the money to force a
manufacturer to ship them quality hardware, and b) they must employ
engineers who test that it works as it should all the way to my
finger.

I had a Pinebook Pro before this and I was impressed with what the
devs were able to do with the very limited hardware inside the laptop.
(E.g., someone there had reverse engineered part of the
keyboard/touchpad driver to deliver certain features.) I'm also
interested to see what the fellow working on the mnt reform laptop
ends up producing.
