Well, the other submodules there (pd-lua and wiringPi) also check out
rather slowly, usually giving me figures in the 20-40 KiB/s ballpark, and
the speed varies quite a bit. I also get *much* better speeds occasionally,
but that's becoming increasingly rare in recent times. I'm getting 14.00
KiB/s on https://git.purrdata.net/aggraef/gem.git right now, which has been
chugging along for a bunch of minutes already and is still only at 20%,
whereas IOhannes' upstream at https://github.com/umlaeute/Gem.git was
checked out in a few *seconds*, at 5.45 MiB/s.
