Yes, I know. :) The new toplevel Makefile is just a friendlier wrapper
around that, for the most part. But we also beefed up the script quite
a bit lately, so that it's more robust and can also do a "light" build
(just the core, pddp and the libdir loader by default) to make those
people happy who prefer a more vanilla-like experience. And the
toplevel Makefile can also roll self-contained tarballs now.
