I was able to use valgrind on Jessie with armv7l with no problem. So I'll assume
that the valgrind devs added the assertion in a version later than
what was shipped
with Jessie.

Still, I'm confused. How in the world could a valgrind crasher fixed
in 2016 remain broken in
Stretch in 2018? I thought Debian leveraged vaglrind in its testing framework...
