Just for the record, here's my build log obtained on Ubuntu 16.04 by
running the above command. (I've zipped it up to save some bandwidth.)
Seems that everything ran fine there, the resulting deb is some 27.7 MB.
Once you have a complete build log on your system, diffing against mine
should give you an idea where your build goes wrong.
